Privacy Policy

How this website and the RothWise™ calculator handle information.

Draft for the owner's counsel. The behaviour described below was read from the calculator's own source and configuration before this was written, so it states what the software does rather than what a template says. Four items are marked in the text as the owner's to settle. Delete this notice when the text is approved.

1. Two different things, and they work differently

This policy covers two surfaces, and almost everything people want to know is about the difference between them.

2. This website collects nothing

These pages are static. They contain no form, no input field, no button that submits anything, and no script of any kind — no analytics, no advertising pixel, no social-media tag, no session recorder. We set no cookies on them. Reading this site does not create a record of you with us.

The site is served over the public internet, so the hosting provider that delivers it necessarily handles the ordinary technical details of each request in order to route it, secure it and defend it from attack. We do not add to that, query it, or use it to identify anyone. (The owner to name the hosting provider and link its terms before publication.)

3. What the calculator asks for, and what each figure is for

A licensed professional enters a small number of figures about a married couple. Every one of them exists to produce a specific part of the report, and nothing is asked for that the calculation does not use.

Entered by the professional. Per person where the two differ.
Each person's ageSets when that person's required withdrawals begin, and whether the additional allowances granted at 65 apply to them yet.
Each person's IRA balanceThe amount available to convert. Held separately for each person, because an account belongs to one individual and cannot be combined.
Each person's Social Security benefitDetermines how much of the benefit is taxable, which changes the tax on the conversion.
Other household incomePensions, interest, dividends, earned income — the base the conversion is taxed on top of.
StateApplies the state retirement exclusion each person is entitled to.
Filing statusMarried filing jointly, which sets the thresholds the calculation uses.
The professional's own detailsName and contact line, so the finished report is prepared and presented under their name.

Names. The couple's names are used to label the report and the per-person pages inside it, so the professional and their client can tell whose figures are whose. They serve no other purpose.

4. What happens to those figures

The figures are sent to the calculator, the calculation runs, and the finished report comes back. They are used to produce that report and are not stored. Specifically:

The figures do appear in the finished report, because a report that showed conclusions without the inputs behind them could not be checked. That document belongs to the professional who produced it. Where it is saved, who it is sent to and how long it is kept are decisions made entirely by them, on their own systems.

5. Whose information it is, and who is responsible for it

The figures describe a professional's client, not a visitor to this site. The professional holds the relationship with that client, decides what to collect from them, and is responsible for telling them about it under their own privacy notice and their own regulatory obligations. We provide the calculation; we do not hold the client relationship and we do not keep the client's figures.

6. What we never do

7. Retention

Because the calculator stores nothing, there is no retention period for entered figures — there is nothing retained to set a period for. If the owner later adds a feature that does store information, such as saved reports or an account, this policy will be updated before that feature is made available. (The owner to set retention periods for any information received outside the calculator, such as correspondence.)

8. Security

Traffic to this site and to the calculator is encrypted in transit. The strongest protection here is structural rather than procedural: information that is never stored cannot be taken from storage. No method of transmission is completely secure, and we do not claim absolute security.

9. Your choices

You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. For figures entered into the calculator the answer will ordinarily be that we hold none, for the reasons in section 4. Where a professional holds a report containing a client's figures, that request belongs with that professional. (The owner to supply the contact address.)

10. Children

This site and the calculator are intended for licensed professionals. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The version published on this page is the current one, and continued use after a change means you accept it. (The owner to decide whether to show a "last updated" date here.)

12. Contact

Privacy questions can be sent to the address published on rothwise.ai. (Address to be supplied by the owner.)
